Coding for Veterans To Retrain Veterans of The United States Armed Forces

Coding for Veterans partners with the University of Southern California to deliver an online curriculum.

(TORONTO, November 24, 2023) After four years of assisting military veterans transition from military service to a private sector career in software development and cyber security, Coding for Veterans is now expanding its program and supporting veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

This highly successful software development and cyber security retraining program has opened enrollment to the servicemen and women of the American military. The Coding for Veterans program in the US will be delivered 100% online in partnership with the University.

“We are excited at the opportunity to assist those men and women who have served in the US Military to retrain for jobs in software development or cyber security as they transition into civilian life,” says Coding for Veterans Executive Director Jeff Musson. “We look forward to welcoming the first US military veteran cohort in January 2024.”

USC Dr. Terry Wolfe, Executive Director, USC Marshall School of Business Office of Executive Education says, “There is no better way to honor the men and women who have served in the US Military than by aiding their career transition through a retraining program that will qualify them for the best positions in cybersecurity and network development across all industries. This program offers a pathway for individuals to obtain good-paying, high-quality leadership roles in cybersecurity and software development.”

Coding for Veterans program graduates are employed by Fortune 500 companies such as Cisco, Ernst & Young and IBM. There is a severe shortage of skilled workers with expertise in coding and cybersecurity in North America. According to a 2022 Cybersecurity Workforce Study, there are approximately 700,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs in the United States alone. As the demand for trained cybersecurity professionals grows, the scarcity of supply is driving up wages for skilled practitioners.
